- Products tailored to domestic customers boost rapidly growing sportswear market
LF, the lifestyle culture company, announced on the 19th that it has finalized a contract with Authentic Brands Group (ABG), a global brand management group, to sell and distribute Reebok products in South Korea.
Reebok is a sportswear and equipment brand that was founded in England in 1895, by track athlete Joseph William Foster. Soon after its establishment, Reebok launched its first spiked running shoes that were acknowledged by Olympic track athletes for their top-notch quality. Building upon this new reputation, the brand experienced explosive growth in America, where jogging was a popular activity, and has since grown into a globally renowned sports brand with an expanded offering of apparel, accessories, and children’s items.
ABG, a brand management company headquartered in New York, owns a portfolio of over fifty brands across the lifestyle, entertainment, and media industries. In addition to Reebok, ABG manages famous consumer brands such as Barneys New York, Nautica, Brooks Brothers, Spyder, and Juicy Couture, as well as globally renowned sports magazine Sports Illustrated. Further, ABG holds portrait rights to celebrities such as Muhammad Ali, Shaquille O’Neal, and David Beckham.
Pursuant to the acquisition of Reebok’s licensing and sales rights in South Korea, it is the intention of LF to operate the brand through wholesale (B2B), online, and offline distribution channels. Further, in close cooperation with ABG, LF intends to introduce a wide range of products optimized for the needs of domestic customers, ranging from apparel, shoes, bags, hats, merchandise, and baby clothes, with the end goal of establishing itself as a leading brand in the sportswear market.
Kim Seong-ho, Head of the Reebok Division at LF, remarked, “Amid the growing influence of sportswear in the global fashion market and rapidly changing consumer lifestyles, we have partnered with ABG and allied with Reebok, which has a distinct brand identity. By leveraging its 100-year spirit of endless innovation and global influence, we plan to drive the growth of the domestic sportswear market.”
Corey Salter, COO of ABG, added, “We are very pleased to partner with LF, a leader in the South Korean fashion industry. We are confident that LF will not only strengthen Reebok’s position, but expand its customer base in South Korea, which is the hub of the Asian fashion industry.”
