DAKS Holds 2018 F/W Menswear and Womenswear Fashion Show in Milan
- Setting a “genderless” trend with
the first-ever fashion show integrating menswear and womenswear collections
- Presenting an authentic British
fashion style with the application of independently developed materials and
details of the finest quality
DAKS, a British classic fashion brand,
held its 2018 F/W Collection Fashion Show on January 14 during Milan Fashion
Week, and forecasted the trends that will be seen in the second half of this
year.
Milan Fashion Week is the world’s
largest fashion event attended by renowned fashion designers and fashion
insiders from around the world. DAKS’ fashion show held in Piazza Vetra
garnered everyone’s attention as first fashion show ever to present menswear
and womenswear collections simultaneously.
DAKS captured a classic and
elegant mood in its entire collection under the concept of a British couple
going on a romantic train trip in winter, and attempted to express the intimacy
and strong attraction felt between a man and a woman upon seeing uncanny
resemblances in each other. Similarities in the materials, patterns, ornaments,
colors, etc. between the menswear and womenswear collections were emphasized,
and suits and double-breasted coats were presented in both collections, thereby
proposing the genderless look as a new trend for this fall and winter.
For its latest collections, DAKS strove
to demonstrate an authentic British fashion style by using the materials
developed with Mill, a prominent British fabric maker, and to create finest
details such as an elaborate golden chain on top of a belt and floral patterns
on jacket collars, for example.
Also, it revealed its brand
identity through the House check design and applied the checkered pattern with
a three-dimensional appearance that was specifically designed for the 2018 F/W
season throughout both collections.
As for the color schemes, vibrant
and vivid colors were presented, instead of the typical fall and winter colors.
While adding a sense of liveliness to the winter season clothing with rich hues
of dark yellow, orange, green and wine colors, DAKS presented a classic look
with flamboyant floral prints reminiscent of the curtains and carpets of
British trains.
Knitwear were the key items used
to complete the British look, with their unique patterns and materials. DAKS
used wool materials of the finest quality including Merino and Shetland wool
and added elaborate embroidery and wrinkle designs to capture refined and
classic beauty, while producing a soft appearance with gentle curves and
lines.
DAKS, founded in London in 1894,
is a prominent fashion house at the forefront of classic British fashion style.
Presenting styles that show an ideal blend of tradition and modernity, DAKS has
been a beloved fashion brand worldwide for more than 120 years. In Korea, DAKS
products have been sold by LF based on a licensing agreement since 1982.
